The Spirit WalkerSpirit WalkerAscendancy classHuntress ascendancyWild Protector: grants the Bear Spirit companionVivid Stampede: grants Vivid StampedePrimal Bounty: grants the Owl Feather empowermentSacred Unity: Bear Spirit gains Embrace of the WildPoE2DB · CC BY-NC-SA 3.0 is a huntress ascendancy built around spirit companions: a bear from Wild ProtectorWild ProtectorSkill gemCall upon a Bear Spirit Companion to maul your foes. The Bear Spirit leaps at enemies to Maim them, Leeches Life with its slam, and periodically roars to Intimidate enemies. The Bear Spirit does not count toward your Companion limit.PoE2DB · CC BY-NC-SA 3.0, stags from Vivid StampedeVivid StampedeSkill gemCall upon Spirits of the Stag, sending them leaping forward. We keep playing the same werewolf rotation, and the spirits fight next to us. That makes it the busiest werewolf on screen, and it is a lot of fun to play.

The first thing to fix on any werewolf is defence. None of the werewolf skills have a defensive component, and the werewolf wants to be in the middle of the fight, so we are always in a bad position. The huntress sits on the evasion side of the tree, so we go evasion, or evasion with energy shield. Evasion can never reach 100%, so a hit will eventually land, and if that hit kills us, nothing else matters. What we need is a big maximum hit. Deflection reduces the damage of the hits we fail to evade, but a large enough hit still kills us after the reduction. The ascendancy gives us a way to push that further, which is to make our companions take the damage instead of us.

It works like this. When Wild ProtectorWild ProtectorSkill gemCall upon a Bear Spirit Companion to maul your foes.
